RE: post pictures of your HTT

Went out last weekend to a small private lake, DH is one of 50 members who are allowed use of the area. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/abby/100_1812.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/abby/100_1807.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/abby/100_1823.jpg Our dog was recovering from bladder surgery, so she got a nice comfy place to sleep.

Abby is well enough to camp again

Her surgery was July 2nd for removal of bladder stones & she has been doing awesome! She still needs to have stitches removed, but the Vet has had a family emergency & we can'r get in for a few more days, yet. We camped this weekend about 2 miles from home. DH is a member of a private club, which includes priveledges at this small lake; http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/abby/100_1807.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/abby/100_1812.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/abby/100_1815.jpg It was a quiet weekend, altho there are 50 members, there were only 3 campers this weekend.

RE: UPDATED: Abby is home following surgery

4th of July update: Abby acts like she never had anything done!! Happy as can be... She has about a 2 to 3" incision, which we'll get the stitches out around the 12th. She finally let us see it last night...the 1st night & during the day yesterday she'd start to lay on her side & then it was like she remembered there was something on her belly & she'd quick sit up as if to protect herself. Last night she flopped down & went belly up for a rub! The little nut!! Our little girl is one happy camper right now! 5th of July: It's been nice having a long weekend with her (I ended up with a 4 day weekend instead of 3, because she didn't have to spend the night). We're taking it slow, even tho she'd like to go-go-go!! She naps a lot, but if I say "outside" she beats me to the door...she wants to sit on the swing, she wants to sit in the tent...wants to go in the camper....wants to take a walk. We're taking 2 or 3 very short walks a day. She had a couple toys out to play with yesterday & has brought me her ball a few times...not throwing it more than a few feet...but she's enjoying it. We slept in the camper (yup, at home, didn't want to drag her anywhere) last night...she bunked with me for awhile, but the bed is a good 3 feet off the floor & I didn't want her to try & jump down like she usualy does, so I put her back into her own area & she settled right in & slept until 6:00 this morning. She's slept an hour later each morning since coming home...so we're through the night now, which is great!

RE: Amazing Picture.

Snopes site says it is a real photo, but NOT the one from the Boy Scout camp...this photo was taken the day BEFORE that one. The one that wiped out the Boy Scout Camp In Iowa was rain-wrapped.

UPDATED: Abby is home following surgery

UPDATE:Abby has been home for about an hour, she's fairly comfortable. The Vet called me at work & said she was bouncing off the walls & ready to go home. Sooooo...I took off work an hour early & went to get her. She was happy as a lrk all the way home, altho she is clingy & whiny now...but I planned to dedicate my time soley to her needs. I got her comfortable & she is strating to doze right now. She will be on pain pills for a week & needs stitches out in 10 days. I have the stones & they are UGLY! I will post a picture of them below http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/100_1800.jpg. *********** UPDATE: She had her surgery today...the VEt called to say that there were 2 stones, larger than a pea, smaller than a marble...rough on the edges, but the lining of her bladder is in excellent condition. She'll be home tomorrow. Thanks for your thoughts & prayers!! ************** Some of you may remember Abby, she's had problems with bladder infections/stones for awhile & she will have surgery for the bladder stones on Wednesday. Her ultrasound this week showed that they had grown larger in the past 30 days, rather than dissolving. She'll have to spend the night with the Vet & I can pick her up Thursday when I head home from work...I'll have 3 days off to be home with her next weekend. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/100_1788.jpg Would appreciate it if you'd keep her in your thoughts.

RE: Thoughts for our dog, please

I have to call the Vet in the morning... not sure what this is all about, he left a message on my machine today that he needs to talk to me because he got another report back today about her urine culture. Tomorrow is Saturday, but I will call & see which Vet is there this weekend & hopefully it will be one of the two that we deal with so I can find out what's up now.

RE: Thoughts for our dog, please

I was able to talk with her Vet yesterday & she will stay on the Canine u/d for awhile before switching back to the c/d. He approves of her salmon & sweet potato teats, the carrots & occassional green beans. We will continue to monitor her closely & anytime she has a problem he wants to send a culture in before prescribing antibiotics. Doesn't take me long to say "there's something wrong with that dog!"...altho it takes the hubby another day or 2 to agree with me. I have heard of giving dogs cranberry pills, a friend from another site did that & her dog started passing so many stones, she had baggies full of them & they ended up doing surgery to get the remaining ones.

RE: Thoughts for our dog, please

Congrats on your good news! At only 6 years of age she's having her share of trouble. Ive had(and lost) many pets over the years and I'm just thinking out loud. Kidney and bladder stones can be diet related. We had a cat with them and we were instructed to stop all routine diet and treats and go to Hills Prescription diet. I wonder if maybe the calcium in the yogurt might be giving her the stones. We went to Prescription diet and that was the end of our trouble. We were also giving bagged treats that you see in the foil pouch'es at the store but their full of junk and chemicals. Now we just give the Hills Science diet and we're doing fine. Good luck with your pretty sweetheart. Abby has been on Science Diet since sometime in 2004...she was on the Canine c/d until this last bit of trouble...she's now on the u/d formula. We just gave her the yogurt (about a tsp) with the antibiotics (she had a total of 9 weeks of antibiotics) since the antibiotics can also kill the good bacteria along with the bad...so she didn't eat that all that long...and in a very small amount. Anything she gets for treats is the higher quality stuff ...salmon, carrots, green beans, & we found a sweet potato treat on Drs Foster & Smith that is only 2% protien...We were told that we needed to watch protien content with her. It all has to be LOW protien. She drinks filtered water...

RE: Thoughts for our dog, please

Abby's results came back today... The test for transitional cell carcinoma was NEGATIVE!!! She does still have some red blood cells present in her urine, but no evidence of cancer! My vet was not in today, but instructed them to give me the good news & I can call him tomorrow if I want more information.

Thoughts for our dog, please

I didn't mention this earlier, there seems to always be prayers needed, but now we could use some powerful thoughts. Abby, my 6 year old Cocker/Poodle/Schnauzer/Pug ocassionally has problems with kidney/bladder infections. About 3 years ago we fought bladder stones & got them dissolved with meds. She drinks only filtered water & eats a spoonfull of plain yogurt daily. Several weeks ago she startied acting like she had yet another infection, so I tried almost in vain to get a urine sample to take to my Vet. As I suspected she had another infection, 10 days of antibiotics. Another sample...another 10 days of a differeent antibiotic. Then we tried to keep her off antibiotics for a week so we could get a sample to send in to the university lab, the Vet here looked at that sample under his scope before sending it & said it appeared to be protien & blood. That was the sample we sent in. Results came back as "chronic bacterial cystitis" & we switched from Canine c/d to Canine u/d food. The lab reccomended 6 to 8 Weeks of antibiotics and then a re-test. They also detected some suspicious abnormal cells which COULD indicate bladder cancer, but there was so much infection at the time that they couldn't make a definate diagnosis. Today was 6 weeks, & she feels good & was able to finally go off the antibiotics. I will collect a sample & take to the Vet Monday morning for them to send in to the university again to check further into the cancer cells they thought they may have seen. transitional_cell_carcinoma We'd appreciate some good thoughts!! Thanks! http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/susanlouise/100_1485.jpg
